The Mohawk Towpath Scenic Byway is excited to announce our Road Rally on April 14, 2024. Connect with History, Heritage, and Culture along the Erie and Champlain Canals.

Join us for a fun 60+/- mile adventure and discover the stories behind the Byway, the waterway west, and the role our communities played in the westward expansion of the country!

When?

Sunday, April 14, 2024, 10:00am – 1:00pm.

Registration opens at 9:00am with the Driver/ Navigator meeting to take place at 9:50am. The first car will be off at 10:05am. This event has a three hour time limit and will be followed by a catered lunch and awards ceremony in the barn at the Mabee Farm.

Where? (Start)

Registration and rally start at historic Grooms Tavern, Rexford (at the corner of Grooms Road and Sugar Hill Road). The rally ends at the historic Mabee Farm, Rotterdam Junction. The event will be entirely within the eastern gateway of the Erie Canalway Heritage Corridor.

Who?

The Road Rally is sponsored by the Friends of the Mohawk Towpath Byway and the Mohawk-Hudson Region Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). All are welcome.

At least one person in each vehicle (team) must be a SCCA member. Temporary memberships are available for an additional $15.

How Much?

$25 per team or vehicle for entry.

This event is open to individuals and families of all ages, minimum entry must include a driver and a navigator. 

Additional information:

In addition to the entry fee, each team will need a camera with digital display, internet access, and a GPS unit or smart phone / tablet with these capabilities.

This event promises three hours of fun in three Capital District counties. Look for and discover this amazing engineering feat that made New York the Empire State. Join us as we search for canal sites and celebrate 200 years of the Erie Canal!
